This design by Hertz&Wegener was created a considerable distance into his career by the size of the pattern number, which would put it circa 1868-1875.  The pattern is 90 stitches wide by 89 stitches tall and is comprised of 23 DMC colors.

UNMARKED FLOWER BASKET - $12 USD

This circa 1870's pattern was executed on thin graph paper, which allowed the hand painted colors to run.  This was mainly due to the increased demand for new patterns and the lack of skilled workers to complete them.  If you will notice that the colors used are in the earth tones, which is typical of the movement towards nature that came about with William Morris in the late 1870s.  The design is 148 stitches wide by 131 stitches tall and there are 51 DMC colors used.
