SAJOU 5539 - $6 USD

This pattern is circa 1858-1862.  At that time, nothing was considered more romantic than to tour ancient abbey ruins with the one you were in love with, by your side.  Sajou captured that romantic feeling with this pattern.  The design is only 80 stitches wide by 102 stitches tall yet with just 25 DMC colors, it captures that which made the Victorian Era what it was.

This pattern hails from the early 1850's, as Mr. Wicht ceased operation in 1858.  This design is small but it is packed tightly with lush leaves around two Roses and what appear to be Dogwood blossoms.  The pattern is square at 90 stitches wide by 90 stitches tall but uses 36 DMC colors to complete the design.

P TRUBE 6041 - $12 USD

This late 1850's pattern by P Trube of Berlin, was originally painted on grey graph paper and made the pattern look almost washed out.  I have taken the choice to show it against a black background, which would have been keeping with the times, after Prince Albert's death in 1861.  By doing so, the colors appear vibrant, and reflects what the designer was trying to achieve.  The design is almost square at 144 stitches wide by 145 stitches tall and is comprised of 45 DMC colors.
